tyyni

Gently opened.
Deeply known.

A quiet place to write in your own words, in time to yourself. What you write reaches the people you choose, slowly.

We are still preparing for release.

The tyyni home screen, with the notebook, postcards and the library, and today’s theme below them.

About tyyni

Social media today may be a little too loud. News, ads, posts from people who are angry — endless sound and images fill your head. Connecting with people has become easy, too, but it also feels a little too fast.

tyyni is searching for a way for relationships to deepen slowly. When we don’t know ourselves or each other, people who could have understood one another sometimes clash and drift apart. So we made a place where you can come to know yourself, and pass that on to someone.

You write for yourself first. When your thoughts come together, you add them to a book. From that page, they reach someone.

What you can do

The notebook screen, showing a cover titled “Talking with yourself.”

A secret notebook for facing yourself

What you write in the notebook is visible only to you. You can write as many sheets as you like about a theme, or write without choosing a theme at all.

What you write stays on your device, and we cannot read it. When your thoughts have settled, you can gather them into a page of a book. AI can help you with that, and the notebook’s text reaches the AI only when you ask it to.

A book screen. In the book “Something that moved you lately,” a page about the scent of osmanthus is open.

For each theme, a book that belongs to no one

A theme is a line that belongs to no one. Pages written about the same theme gather into one book. You can also start from “Today’s theme,” which changes every day.

Pages don’t take comments. If you read a page and find the way its writer thinks interesting, you can follow them.

The screen for choosing who a page is set aside for, with a switch beside each of two names.

You choose who gets to read

A page can be added to the book for anyone to read, or kept in the stacks. A page kept in the stacks is set aside only for the people you choose, and they can receive it in the book and read it.

Only people you follow each other with can be chosen. Anyone you have not chosen cannot see that the page exists. You can add people later, or take them off.

A letter screen. The letter tells of a rainy day, with its envelope below.

Just the two of you: an exchange of letters

Letters can be sent only to people you follow each other with. A letter takes a little while to arrive, and you never know whether it has been read.

Replies go one at a time, taking turns. We wanted to bring back the length and slowness of waiting for a letter.

The postcards screen, with postcards from strangers laid over one another.

A postcard with no address, to someone’s mailbox

A postcard is a letter that could reach anyone. Like a bottle set adrift on the sea, it reaches someone you have never met.

Postcards that someone wrote reach you, too. If one stays with you, you can follow the person who wrote it. We hope they become a chance to meet people you never imagined meeting.

The Deliveries screen, with envelopes closed with wax seals.

Notices, once in the evening

Letters and postcards that reach you go into Deliveries. Notices arrive once a day, gathered in the evening.

There are no unread counts, no day streaks, no rankings. If you answer nothing, nothing happens.

What we care about

People are not ranked by numbers
There are no like counts. Follower counts, and the list of who you follow, are shown to no one but you.
Being hard to find is part of the protection
There is no way to look for a person by name; what you can look for is themes and tags. To connect with someone you already know, you hand them the link to your own page.
Safety is for everyone
Blocking, reporting, taking back what you handed over — everyone has these. Nothing about safety, or about who can see what, sits behind a plan.
What you write is yours
Everything you have written can be exported at any time. When you delete your account, what you wrote is deleted with it.
Nothing dangerous is left in place
What you report is reviewed within 24 hours, and where necessary we hide the content, issue a warning, or suspend the account. tyyni is for people aged 18 and over.

A place that is quiet and cool, yet somehow warm. That is tyyni.

We are still preparing for release.
